现在分词（动词-ing）具有形容词和副词性质，可作定语、状语、宾补、表语。

- 作定语（表主动、进行）：The girl singing on the stage is my sister. 在台上唱歌的女孩是我妹妹。
- 作宾补：see/hear/watch/notice sb. doing sth.（看见某人正在做某事）；see sb. do 表示看见全过程。
- 作状语（表伴随、原因、时间）：He sat there reading a book. 他坐在那里看书。
- 作表语：The story is interesting. 这个故事有趣。（ing 修饰物，ed 修饰人：interested）
